- 10/11/07. I am playing with Just Plain Big on October 11. Opening for The English Beat at the Coach House. Awesome!
- 10/3/06. I've had, like, 5 gigs since last I updated. ANYWAY, I'm playing with JPB SUNDAY, 10/8. We're playing at 15th street as part of the 100th anniversary of Newport Beach. We should be going on somewhere between 4 and 5. Check the website for details regarding parking and shuttles - it appears they are shutting the peninsula for this.
- 5/26/06. Whoah! Last minute giggage: I'm playing with CanBe tomorrow night at Coconuts
32435 Doheny Park Road, Capo Beach
949-248-2448
9pm - 1am
- 5/24/06. Hey kids! Guess what? I'm playing with Just Plain Big!
'strue! In addition to my myriad duties as lead guitarist and webmaster for the CanBe band, I'm now webastering and rhythm guitaring for JPB. We are playing at The Coach House on July 28 supporting The Untouchables. Do. Not. Miss.
- 5/3/06. To the charge of not updating my web page, I respond: GUILTY!
You can punish me personally if'n you come down to Gallagher's Pub on May 10 at, um, let's say 8-ish. I will be playing with CanBe. Did I mention I'm playing lead guitar for him now? NO, I haven't updated since July. What. The. Hell.
- 7/26/05. GIG! I'm playing with Crack Sunday at Hoagie Barmichael's on Thursday night - 7/28/05. We play at 10, I have no idea what the cover is, but this is an all-ages show. This will be one of my last gigs with this band, so you better come see!
- 6/17/05. Quick update here. I'm off to go shoot a video for "Soccer Mom" from the CanBe album. Live scenes were shot at the Bamboo Terrace a couple weeks ago, and this weekend will be taken up by location shots.
On the Crack Sunday fromt, I have lessened my involvement with the band. Nothing against the guys or their music, I'm just burned out after 2 practices a week, every week, for 4 years. They're still going to meet twice a week, but I'm only coming in once. We're hoping to be a live presence in the OC this summer, and at the end of the summer I'm going to decide whether I want to continue with the band or not. They DO have their ears to the ground for a new bass player if it should come to that, so if that's YOU, then HOLLER.
- 3/20/05. I've been horribly, horribly remiss in updating here, but IN MY DEFENSE I have been a very very busy boy. The CanBe practices have been going great, and I will be playing the CD release party for his new album PLUCK this coming Friday. Here's the official announce from the man himself:
CD release party for PLUCK, by CanBe
YouÕre probably wondering why youÕve been selected to
attend such a prestigious event. ItÕs because youÕre
good enough, youÕre smart enough, and dog-gone-it,
people like you.
Please join me on Friday, March 25th, at Rain
(formerly the Tiki Bar) in Costa Mesa to hear some new
tunes and make merriment. Scott Woods (Santiago
Steps/ Just Plain Big) will join me on the drums.
HeÕs still sassy as ever. IÕve also tracked down Noel
Lairson (Crack Sunday) who will complete the rhythm
section on bass.
Festivities begin at 7:30 and weÕll go on stage at
around 8:30. The minimal cover charge will get you a
free copy of my new cd PLUCK, and the profits will
purchase reading materials for children in Nayarit,
Mexico. There will also be some special guests
performing later in the evening
RAIN is located at the corner of 17th and Placentia in
Costa Mesa.
I look forward to seeing you!
CanBe
For the record (pun intended), PLUCK is available at cdbaby.
CanBe's website is here.
Here is a link to the venue's insufferably stupid site with bad frames and sound you can't turn off, as well as far less stupid map link.
This should be a great show. Come one, come all!
- 2/5/05. Woah. Just hooked up with an old friend of mine. CanBe is just finishing up an album called 'Pluck', and is assembling a collective of people who know how to play his songs. I'm frantically learning the songs for an anticipated CD release party at the end of February. Watch this space for more details!
- 11/16/04. Added a list of guitar tunings I use to the Stuff section.
- 10/31/04. Hey! It's Halloween! I haven't updated this in a while. Well, I did finally record. We are now waiting on Rich's parts before we can move on. This is proving to be as big an ordeal as mine was. The main site update though is the addition of a 'Stuff' section, which may eventually hold actual content but currently serves as the location of the link to the photo/art gallery I set up this weekend.
- I'm recording for Crack Sunday this weekend. On Sunday, even. I don't think there will be any crack, though.
- Added the Noel2k album to the mp3 section of this site
- Seth found this review of the show. Apparently our set was 'weak' and our music 'dissonant'. Whatever.
- The Gypsey Lounge show went great! For the second time ever, the band after us was amazing. They're called the Dollyrots. Check 'em out!
- Saturday, May 22: Crack Sunday show at The Gypsy Lounge in Lake Forest. 8:00.
- Noel still plodding away at record that is sure to melt your mind. It's melted mine.
- Speaking of records, Seth and Norm have already recorded 6 songs for the Crack Sunday ep. Noel and Seth should be recording late May, early June. We should be putting some fun touches, including horns and percussion, soon after that; then Pat gets to try to mix our crap.
